Air Compressor Descaling

Air compressors are used across a wide variety of industries and have multiple applications. Over time, lime, water scale, and rust will accumulate inside the compressors water jackets. This can be prevented with proper maintenance and the right descaling solution.

Our Dynamic Descaler allows you to clean vital parts of the air compressor without disassembling the cylinders, aftercooler, and intercooler. Resulting in a clean air compressor with no downtime.

What is an Air Compressor?

Air compressors convert power into potential energy that is stored in pressurized air. There are three main types of air compressor: Reciprocating, rotary screw, and centrifugal. We typically see our descalers being used with reciprocating air compressors, which are normally heavy-duty continuous service compressors.

Water jacketing around the valve and packing is essential to an air compressor. The valve and packing are points of localized heating within the compressor. If lime, rust, and water scale accumulate on the water jackets, the compressor can overheat and suffer permanent damage.

Air Compressor Descaling Solution

For reciprocating air compressors that do not contain stainless steel, we recommend our Dynamic Descaler for the best results. For stainless steel air compressor descaling, we suggest using our Platinum Descaler. Simply remove the water in/out connection from each applicable part and circulate Dynamic Descaler. Full instructions are available below.

  • Dynamic Descaler: For reciprocating air compressors that do not contain stainless steel, we recommend our Dynamic Descaler for the best results.
  • Platinum Descaler: For stainless steel air compressor desacling, we recommend using our Platinum Descaler for the best results.
